Joëlle Numainville joins Bigla Pro Cycling Team
Joëlle Numainville has switched to her third team in two seasons, joining Bigla Pro Cycling Team for 2015. The 2013 Canadian time trial and road race champion began 2014 with Optum presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies before joining Belgian squad Lotto-Belisol for the last few months of the season.
Bigla is a Swiss-based team reloading for 2015 with 2010 UCI World Cup winner Annemiek van Vleuten (The Netherlands), American Shelley Olds, and South African Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio.
The Laval, Que., native was second in the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic early in the 2014 season while with Optum. She recently represented Canada at the Worlds road race in Ponferrada, Spain, but did not finish.
Bigla’s new general manager, Thomas Campana, said about the signing, “We chose Joëlle as part of the set up because she is capable is playing so many roles within a team. She is a strong ITT rider, she is good in the sprints so she will play an important part in our sprint train, she’s good in the classics and generally just a very positive rider.”
